Where has all the time gone?  Anyway, I just wanted let you know real quick that there will be two Valley Lodge shows this summer in NYC (so far).  The first one is Friday, June 17 at Mercury Lounge with Corn Mo and .357 Lover and Red Wanting Blue.  It's gonna be a scorcher.  You can get tickets right here.

The second NYC rock attack will go down July 28 at the Bell House in Brooklyn.  We will be opening for Valley Lodge axeman John Kimbrough's awesome Walt Mink, who are playing their first NYC reunion show.  This is going to be epic in nature.

In other news, the third Valley Lodge album is about halfway done.  The hope and plan is to have it all done and out this fall.  Maybe we'll make t-shirts too or something.  Who knows, y'know?  Also, we are going to be on the all-new "Beavis and Butthead" this fall, which is sweet.  I hope they're gentle.

In still other news, Phil and Dave are playing some shows with their other rock project Diamondsnake.  You can get the full scoop here.  There is talk of a UK invasion this fall.

And finally, Dave is writing a soon-to-be bestselling book for St. Martin's Press.  It will be out in 2012 at some point and you totally have to buy that shit.

Okay, that's pretty much it for now.  I mean, there's probably some other stuff but I can't remember at the moment.  We will try to keep this page updated more often and stuff.  It seems crazy not, right?  I mean, it's the Internet!  Come on!

December 28, 2010

Hi.  The holidays, am I right?  Anyway, here is the latest in Valley Lodgeland (a faraway rock-based planet populated solely by aging white guys and a few super hot chicks).  For starters, we have been licensing a bunch of songs all over the place thanks to the fine folks at Primary Wave Music.  Our hit song "All of My Loving" is currently being featured in an ad for Sonic Drive-In, the popular hamburger maker.  Our song is being used to help promote a western foot long chili dog they have come up with that looks delicious, especially when paired with our incredible song.  You can see the commercial right here.  Warning: there is roller skating in this commercial, so be careful if you have a pacemaker.

Speaking of "All of My Loving," it has also been featured on the popular program "Cougar Town," the Courtney Cox vehicle.  We have had a few other songs on "Cougar Town" recently too, but I struggle to remember which ones as I am hammered right now.

In further licensing news, our hit song "The Door" was used this fall in a commercial for the GMC Sierra, which is a large truck.  The truck looks really cool and then our song comes on and it looks even cooler and people want to buy it.  Also, our hit song "Coming Around" was featured on the popular show "Raising Hope," starring our friend the awesome Martha Plimpton.  The song comes on while these guys are cutting the lawn and it makes their lawn cutting seem even more awesome.

In other news, new Valley Lodge recordings are underway, five songs in all at the moment.  Rob and Dave laid down some basic tracks to analog tape with the fine young people at Studio House in Ronkonkoma (a place on Long Island) and then additional recording has been taking place at various band members' houses thanks to the magic of computer technology.  Hopefully the songs will be done in the next month or so and then released to the masses in some form and then hysteria or some sort will ensue and we will be paid in sex and money.

In still other news, Phil and Dave have recorded a bunch more songs with Diamondsnake, their hard rocking rock band with their friends Moby and Tomato, at Stratosphere in Manhattan, which is right by Dave and Phil's houses, so that worked out great.  The songs sound awesome too.  You can hear them on the Diamondsnake website.  Phil has also been playing some rock shows with his recently reunited heavy metal tribute to the Bee Gees, Tragedy, which is incredible.

In John-related news, he has been busy producing the new Tenacious D album in Los Angeles.  He went to Dave Grohl's house to record some drums and said Dave was really nice and seriously good at drums, both of which came as no surprise.  John says the record sounds awesome and we can't wait to hear it.

In Dave-related news, in late January he goes to Europe to invade Germany, Belgium, England, Scotland, and Wales while playing guitar with the Walter Schreifels Band.  Then he will go to London and entertain people there with his popular comedic nightclub act.  It is going to be incredible.  For more information on all of this stuff as it happens, please visit his popular website here.  Dave also has a podcast called Dave Hill's Podcasting Incident that can totally subscribe to for free on iTunes and you should.  And he has been appearing as a correspondent on "A Different Spin with Mark Hoppus," a fine new program on the popular Fuse network.

There will be some Valley Lodge live shows coming up in early 2011 too, complete with choreography and flames.  Brace yourself.

Okay, that about covers it for now.  Now get out there and live, dammit!  You can do it!

September 2, 2010

Sorry for the delay in breaking news.  Life got away from us for a while.  First things first though- we are playing a rock show September 15 at the Rock Shop in Brooklyn (249 4th Avenue) with the great Tommy Keene and the Title Tracks (which are two separate bands, not just one band in the way that Eddie and the Cruisers were just one band).  It's going to be a power pop blowout or something.  You can get tickets right here.

In other news, our song "Barricade" was recently featured on the hit television show "Make It or Break It" on the popular ABC network.  We were paid one million dollars for this.  Oh!  And in May (sorry- should have written this sooner) Valley Lodge appeared on Evan "Funk" Davies excellent radio show on WFMU in scenic Jersey City.  Evan bought us snacks and we played all the hits.  You can hear the whole show right here.  Do it!

In still other news, recording new Valley Lodge songs will commence this fall.  They will be scorching in nature.  Also, Dave and Phil are working on new recordings with Diamondsnake, their rock band with Moby and Tomato.  A couple shows are line up too.  You can get the full scoop on all things Diamondsnake here.

In news additional to all the stuff just mentioned, Dave just finished six weeks of comedy show in Ireland and the UK, including the Carlsberg Comedy Festival in London and a month-long run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland.  He's also started his very own podcast called Dave Hill's Podcasting Incident that you can listen to right here or on iTunes, where you can also subscribe to it and everything.  And you should.

Meanwhile, our man on bass, Eddie Eyeball has been playing bass with Gordon Gano (Violent Femmes) and writing on some new songs with his newly(ish) reformed band 2 Skinnee J's.  Expect new hit from them soon.  Eddie has also totally got a baby now.  How crazy is that?!

As if all of that is not enough, our man John Kimbrough in the West Coast office has been staying swamped writing songs with Tenacious D for their new album and he has also been writing and recording a bunch of music for the Jonas Brothers television program.  Nuts, right?

Okay, that's pretty much the deal at the moment.  We probably forget to mention a bunch of stuff, but we'll add more later.  Also, um, follow us on Twitter here.  Everyone is on Twitter!  Including us!

April 16, 2010

Our incredible song "Over It" from our incredible self-titled debut was recently featured in an episode of "Cougar Town," the popular Courtney Cox vehicle.  I didn't see but I'm told it was during a scene in a bar or something and you could tell everyone in the scene was really excited that our seriously good song was on and also they wanted to have intercourse with us.

In other news, this is from a little while ago, but our hit song "The Door" from our newish album "Semester at Sea" was recently featured as NPR's Instant Gratification Song of the Day.  You can read all about it and hear it and stuff right here.

In still other news, Phil and Dave recently recently recorded and mixed 15 songs in one day at Headgear Studios in Brooklyn with Tomato from Sound of Urchin and Moby, international rock music person, for a hard rock super side project called Diamondsnake.  Diamondsnake will make their live debut June 17th at the Highline Ballroom in New York City.

And finally, if you live in Germany, Austria, or the Czech Republic, look for Dave playing guitar with the Walter Schreifels Band in those countries May 14-23.

And, of course, while all of the above is happening, Valley Lodge is working on their third incredible album.

December 1, 2009

Congratulations to John for winning a 2009 Emmy Award for co-writing the opening number that Hugh Jackman totally sung at the last Oscar Awards. It is John's second Emmy. How many people do you know with two Emmy's? Not many I bet. John has made the Emmy Awards his bitch at this point.

Dave recently composed original music for the new Lance Doty directed Spaghetti Western "Shoot First and Pray You Live (Because Luck Has Nothing To Do With It)." He is pretty much counting on winning an Oscar for this and if he doesn't he is not going to be cool about it. Just give him an Oscar. How hard could it be? It's just a goddamn trophy – make one extra while you're at it. Dave is also currently playing guitar with the Walter Schreifels Band. Check for dates here.

Phil is touring the UK this December as the frontman for Tragedy, a heavy metal tribute to the Bee Gees. If you live in the UK and don't go see them, you are an asshole. Check tour dates here.

Eddie is currently touring as the bass player for Gordon Gano and the Ryans. You can totally see the legendary Violent Femmes frontman along with Eddie and members of the Bogmen for about the price of four or five really expensive coffees, which is still pretty reasonable. Check tour dates here. Eddie is also going to be a father soon, a direct result of having had intercourse with his wife. Sorry, ladies.
